Enrolment process
If your child turns 5:
- before 1 May, they can start primary school at the start of the year.
- after 1 May, they can start the next year.
Your child must be at school by their 6th birthday.
Prior to enrolment, consultation will occur between parents, the Principal, teacher(s) and the kindergarten to determine when would be the most appropriate time for the child to start school, the dates on which the child can visit the school and their length of stay in Junior Primary.
At this time, parents are also advised to discuss how many hours their child should attend school in the first few weeks, as some new children find it very tiring to spend the whole day at school when they first begin, while other children are fine.
To finalise the enrolment process, parents must complete a Department for Education Enrolment Form and pay required school fees.
Children transferring from another school may enrol at Yahl Primary School at any time during the school year.
Visit the school enrolment section on the department’s website for more information.
